Before You Connect AI to Your Business Apps, Ask These Five Questions
Meta's Muse can now connect to tools like Shopify, QuickBooks, Stripe, Canva, and Slack. More integrations can be useful, but only when each connection has a clear job and limited authority.

What changed
Meta expanded Muse for Small Business with connections to tools many small companies already use, including Shopify, Intuit QuickBooks, Stripe, Canva, Slack, Zoom, and others. Meta says Muse can use that connected context to help owners understand their business and work toward goals such as finding customers or managing operations.
The notable shift is not that another chatbot gained more plugins. It is that AI assistants are being placed closer to the systems where a business's sales, money, marketing, files, and customer information actually live.
The honest nuance
An available integration does not automatically create a valuable workflow. Connecting every tool can just as easily produce unnecessary access, confusing permissions, or another dashboard to supervise. Meta also says nothing publishes, sends, or spends without user approval, which is an important limit to keep in mind when describing what Muse currently does.
The useful question is not “how many apps can this connect to?” It is “which exact workflow gets better because these two systems are connected?”
Why it matters for your business
Small businesses waste real time moving information between tools: checking an order before replying to a customer, pulling sales data before writing a campaign, reconciling payments, or copying information into project software. Cross-app AI could reduce some of that friction.
But every connection also expands the data and actions available to the assistant. The safest and most useful rollout is therefore workflow-first, not connector-first.
What to actually do
Before connecting an AI assistant to a business app, answer five questions: what job will this connection support, what data does the AI actually need, what actions may it take, what requires approval, and how will you know the connection is saving time rather than creating review work.
Start with one repetitive workflow involving one or two systems. Give the AI the minimum access necessary for that job and expand only after the workflow is demonstrably useful.
